Aafia might expend whole life in jail: US
WASHINGTON: Pakistani scientist Aafia Siddiqui may have to expend her whole life in jail and that may still not be sufficient to total obligatory sentences she face on the charges she was establish guilty of earlier this week, says the US Department of fairness.
A press release issued by the section in Washington says that Dr Aafia, 37, faces a utmost sentence of 20 years in prison on each of the attempt murder and armed physical attack charges; life imprisonment on the firearm charge; and eight years in prison on each of the residual assault charges. She also faces a obligatory minimum verdict of 30 years in jail on the firearm accuse.
She is listed to be sentenced on May 6. On Wednesday, a court in Manhattan, New York, establish her guilty on charges related to the attempted murder and assault of US national and US officers and employees in Afghanistan. She was found guilty of all charges next to her following a 14-day jury trial before United States region Judge Richard M. Berman in the US District courtyard for the Southern District of New York.
